Letter from the pastor

Pastor Bill Ivins

As a native West Texan, I felt right at home when I moved to Amarillo to become the Pastor at Saint Paul. That’s why I believe you’ll also feel at home here. Our worship is what I like to call “casual Traditional.” We love the old hymns that help to anchor our faith in the ancient truths of the Christian faith, but you’ll also find our worship filled with warmth and laughter. Most people like to dress casually, and don’t be surprised to hear us clap or say “Amen!” I hope you’ll join the Saint Paul congregation for worship on Sunday to experience what Christ is doing here!

Frequently Asked Questions

Psst.. Turn your phone sideways to read these easier!

answer

I need directions!

The church is located at 4317 I-40, Amarillo, TX

answer

Where should I park?

There is convenient parking all around Saint Paul. Our small front lot facing I-40 has plenty of handicap parking. The rear lot on the south side of the building is where you’ll find most people parking. It also has handicap parking close to the building. If that lot is full, you may also park along the street or in the synagogue parking lot, which is across Saint Paul street from our main building.

answer

What door do I come in?

If you park in the small north lot adjacent to I-40, please enter through the double north facing doors by the wheelchair ramp. After entering, the Sanctuary will be on the left. From the south side of the building, the most convenient entrance is southeast door by the wheelchair ramp. After entering that door, simply walk straight down that hallway to the Sanctuary.

answer

What can I expect in worship?

Pastor Bill likes to call our worship at Saint Paul “casual Traditional.” We love the old hymns of the church because they connect us to our historic faith in Jesus Christ. The pipe organ and piano are our main instruments, but you’ll sometimes experience brass, drums, and even strings. And just because we love Traditional hymns doesn’t mean you won’t hear contemporary music as well. Our adult choir, led by Mr. Billy Talley, sings a wide variety of music too. But above all, you’ll experience a winsome spirit with people laughing, clapping, and even saying “Amen!”

answer

What should I wear to worship?

There is no formal dress code at Saint Paul! You’ll see men in jeans and business suits. You’ll find women in dresses and in casual pants and blouses. Whatever you choose to wear, we’ll be glad to see you!

answer

Is there child care?

Yes! We have a great nursery for infants through age four. One of our greeters will be glad to take you to the nursery when you arrive. For older children who find it difficult to sit through worship, there is Children’s Church. Kids stay in worship through the Children’s Sermon and then head off to Children’s Church. Of course, your children are always welcome to sit with you throughout worship!
